Northwest Area Foundation Environmental Scan

BCT Partners, the NAACP, the Center for Economic Development (CFED), and the African American Leadership Forum (AALC), in collaboration with the Northwest Area Foundation, conducted an environmental scan to understand asset and wealth creation landscapes in five northwestern US cities: Minneapolis/St. Paul; Des Moines, Portland; Seattle; and Tacoma. Over 250 local and regional nonprofit leaders and community members interested in building assets and wealth among low-income people, particularly African American consumers, participated in the scan. BCT Partners is now set to publish the findings of that work in a report entitled, “Pathways to Wealth: Building Assets in the African American Community.” We hope that the report can highlight some promising, proven, and innovative poverty reduction strategies that may be applied throughout the country.
